Gaucho Beach concession stand at Alamitos Beach opens Friday • the Hi

Jan 12, 2024Jan 12, 2024

The latest beach concession stand that’s part of the city’s efforts to redevelop its coastline, Gaucho Beach at Alamitos Beach, will open Friday, Aug. 4.

Beach-goers can already go and purchase food and drinks at the stand’s café, where you can go up to a window and order, but the full-service bar opens Friday. The stand is operated by Gaucho Grill, an Argentinean restaurant with locations in Buena Park and L.A. County. It sits adjacent to the Alamitos Beach lot and hugs the pedestrian walkway that separates it from the sand.

Customers who prefer to dine at the restaurant will be able to order food online by scanning a QR code on their tables and have it brought to them. They will also be able to pay online.

The menu is large and has some vegan and vegetarian options. Brunch, which includes options like a lobster omelet and chicken and waffles, is available all day. For quick, on-the-go meals, salads and sandwiches are also an option.

Seafood like wood-fire grilled salmon and sea bass, as well as a seafood paella, are on the menu, and if you’re feeling particularly hungry, you can grab an entire tomahawk ribeye steak with two sides for $115. The menu prices range generally from $9 to $32, with the exception of the tomahawk.

An extensive bar menu with flights, wine, bottled and draft beer, sangrias and craft cocktails will be available. The happy hour menu will have select beers for $5, as well as discounts on wines, sangrias, margarita and mimosas flights, and reduced prices for certain food items. Mac and cheese, fish fingers, a kid’s burger and a skirt steak are on the Gaucho kids’ menu.

The stand has a second-level open-air patio where people can sit and enjoy the view, and a gaming zone will have ping pong and table soccer.

Next to the concession stand is a children’s playground and recently renewed public bathrooms.

Seating is open to the public, which means you can still enjoy the view from the cafe seats if you find an open spot and bring your own food.

Gaucho Beach is located at 780 East Shoreline Drive.
