For me, the key to these Amazon coloring books is to use craft foam padding beneath the paper to get a smoother surface with color pencils. Also try it with a sheet of notebook paper in between to make sure you don't poke through the paper. If you just put color pencil straight to the printed page without padding you might not like the results. The picture I uploaded of the woman also has some Blender Marker on the skin to blend even better. My Funky George picture is color pencil for the face and marker for the rest.If I'm doing alcohol marker, I find it looks very dark until it dries some. So I like to let base coats dry and build from there, with some drying layers and mixing regular marker blends with some hatch marks later." —1Quantum
